PUBLIC RADIO IN MID-AMERICA (PRIMA)

Board Conference Call
August 16, 2005
2:30 p.m. ET

Minutes

Present: Patty Wente KWMU (President); Cleve Callison WMUB (Vice-President); Christina Kuzmych WFIU (Secretary); Dorie Vallillo, WIUM (Treasurer)

I. Meeting began at 2:30 p.m. ET .

II. 30 th Anniversary PRIMA Meeting

Patty asked for names of people who had been members of PRIMA. They should be invited to the 30 th Anniversary meeting in Kansas City in September.

Cleve provided the agenda as it stands at this time. There will be a hayride! DEI will be represented by Doug Eichten. Dana Rhem will represent NPR, and Kevin Klose will be in attendance. HD radio will be one of the topics. Managers need to be reminded to bring their station associates along to introduce to PRIMA. The response to the PRIMA scholarship has not been good. Deadline is August 25.

III. Report from PRRO Meeting

Patty reported on the last PRRO conference call. The role of PRRO leadership was discussed, particularly in its relation to NPR and NPT leadership.

IV. CSG Review

Cleve expressed concern that the new CSG proposed changes would squeeze out some stations. Another concern was that the proposal doesn’t make room for a clear audit protocol. Whatever structure is adopted, it needs to have progressive scalability that allows stations to ramp up to a high level of qualifying.

IV. Meeting Adjourned at 2:50 p.m. ET .

Respectfully submitted,

Christina Kuzmych, Secretary
