PRIMA Board Conference Call
August 3, 2010 2:30 p.m. EDT

Present: Christina Kuzmych, Dan Skinner, Dorie Vallillo, Al Bartholet, Bill Wheelhouse, Jon Schwartz

1. PRIMA Nominating Committee will now have an additional seat to deal with, replacing the Secretary as Jon retires in January.

2. IRS continuing to torture Dorie about filing a 990 for the first time in years. We cannot file the newly required 990 because the IRS will not recognize our EIN number or status, and thus we will be in violation of the requirement. The penalty is to lose our non-profit status (which they already don’t recognize…). Ernie Sanchez will help us start from scratch in re-establishing our IRS number and 501(c)3 status if necessary, and pro bono.

3. Conference Discussion: Knight Foundation scheduling is impacting the conference schedule, squeezing out most of one day. We intend now to start at 4 p.m. in the PRIMA Suite, perhaps Patty Cahill and CPB. Informal session later in the Suite with Mike Riksen and the Washington Follies.

On Friday, we plan on ending midday. The morning could consist of a major NPR session with Vivian Schiller, Ron Schiller, and perhaps others, followed by the session with Dow Lohnes attorney Meg Miller. This lineup could serve to keep attendees from leaving early on Friday.

Call ended at 2:05 p.m.

Respectfully submitted: Jon Schwartz, PRIMA Secretary
