Spring 2006 Conference
March 8, 2006
Chase Plaza
St. Louis, Missouri
1:45 p.m.

Minutes

I. CALL TO ORDER

PRIMA President Patty Wente called meeting to order. Called to order at approximately 1:45 p.m. Patty informed that this business meeting would be short, since most of the conference time will be devoted to NPR’s New Realities activities.

II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Minutes presented. Motion to approve by Craig Beeby. Tom Hunt second.

III. DISCUSSION OF BY-LAWS

Jon Schwartz presented the PRIMA By-laws. This process started with the full Board meeting in July 2005, and the various updates had been presented to the full PRIMA membership several times. Question: How does Wyoming fit? Answer: It’s adjacent to a PRIMA state and provides service into a PRIMA state. Bruce Haines commented about Section 2 regarding what constitutes a quorum is now clearer. Dave Edwards had previously suggested that we not specify Article 2 Section 8 (pertaining to Fall meeting) too tightly. Question about Article 7 –do we need a PRIMA seal? Answer: No. Article 8 should become Article 7. Craig Beeby moved for acceptance with changes above. Bruce Haines seconded. Motion passed.

IV. FALL MEETNG

Columbus, Ohio was suggested. September 28 and 29. It was pointed out that Western Public Radio is holding a meeting in Alaska. Tim Eby mentioned that NPR personnel could find it hard to attend a meeting in Alaska, particularly if it was scheduled around other major activities. Tim would look into possibility of getting a hotel in Columbus. Coordinated fund drive week starts Oct 14 — a week or so before that would work. Suggestion was made that PRIMA meets at least one week before coordinated fund drive week. PRIMA meetings last about one and half day. Start with breakfast on Thursday, and end at noon on Friday. Patty asked for topics for the conference. Cleve reminded that the fall meeting is when PRIMA holds elections for vacant Board positions.

 V. ADJOURN

Motion to adjourn meeting by Craig Beeby. Seconded by Bruce Haines and others.

Meeting adjourned at 2:52 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
