Board of Directors Meeting Minutes
August 17, 2016
Called to Order: 2:35 PM Eastern Time
Present: Christina Kuzmych, Tim Eby, Paul Maassen, Mike Savage, Steve Schram, Dan Skinner
Planning for Spring 2017 Conference
Dan talked with Gemma Hooley last week about whether the NPR President is available during the target dates of the PRIMA conference. Gemma said she will be approaching Jarl next week to check on dates. Paul reported on preliminary inquiries into potential hotels for the conference.
Louisiana Public Broadcasting Call for Flood Relief Assistance
The board discussed various options for providing assistance and whether this would be an appropriate use of member funds. The board decided that it would be outside of the scope of PRIMA’s mission to directly contribute to another non-profit organization. However, PRIMA can help spread the word among PRIMA membership regarding the need. PRIMA can also encourage CPB to provide funding to the local NPR station to enable them to provide additional local news coverage.
NPR/Station Compact
Tim reported the NPR/Station Compact discussion which took place at SRG. The board discussed the reasons behind the need to reach a new NPR/Station Compact including the impact of NPR digital distribution/information services which did not exist or were not a major factor at the time of the current compact was created.
