March 10, 2009
2:30 ET
Minutes

Present: Cleve Callison, WMUB (President); Christina Kuzmych, WFIU (Vice President) Dan Skinner, Texas Public Radio, (Secretary); Dorie Vallillo, WIUM (Treasurer), Al Bartholet, WKSU (Board Member No. 1), Jon Schwartz, Wyoming Public Radio, (Board Member No. 2), Bill Wheelhouse, WUIS, (Board Member No. 3)

I. Meeting began at 2:33 E.T.

II. Review of PRIMA Winter Conference in San Antonio
The board members reported positive comments about the conference. Feed back showed appreciation for the “Leadership Summit” aspect of the event and also having Henry Cisneros speaking to the group representing a voice from outside of the public radio community. The facilitation to capture “take-away” points at the end of the sessions was also seen to be of value. Discussed costs for conference.

III. PRIMA Fall Meeting
Discussed importance of having a location to which many PRIMA managers can drive. Discussion included Springfield, Chicago and Indianapolis as potential locations. Need to identify host station for Fall Meeting. Once options for location have been identified, survey the PRIMA membership for location preference.

IV. PRIMA Economic Status Survey
There has been a very low response to survey, probably due to other similar surveys already being conducted. PRIMA will not continue to promote the survey at this time.

V. Invitation for PRIMA to meet in association with PRDMC
Doug Eichten has requested that PRIMA meeting in association with PRDMC. There seems to be an interest in reviving the idea of a large meeting similar to the old PRC. There is a feeling that too few PRIMA members would be able attend the PRDMC to make it worthwhile to meet there. After discussion, the board decided that PRIMA should not have a formal meeting at the PRDMC. However, an informal meeting of PRIMA attendees would be fine. Cleve will communicate with Doug Eichten regarding the decision.

VI. Status of Cleve Callison with PRIMA
Given his changing employment status, Cleve asked the board if he should continue as President of PRIMA. The board confirmed its desire for Cleve to remain as president of PRIMA.

V. Meeting adjourned at 3:17 p.m. E.T.

Respectfully submitted,

Dan Skinner, Secretary
