Minutes<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Present: Patty Wente, KWMU (President); Cleve Callison, WMUB (Vice-President); Christina Kuzmych, WFIU (Secretary); Laura Daiber, KWMU (administrative assistant to Patty Wente); Jon Schwartz, KUWR (Board Member No. 2); Dorie Vallillo, WIUM (Treasurer); Tim Emmons WNIU, (Board Member No. 3), Bill McGinley, WOI, (Board Member No. 1)<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>I. Meeting began at 2:30 p.m. ET .<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

II. PRIMA 30 th Anniversary Meeting<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Agenda for conference is set. Several copies were sent out to the Board. Sessions are confirmed. Membership needs to be reminded to register for the hotel. We are still six members away from our registration target. Some people had difficulty registering with the hotel; Cleve sent them additional information. It’s important to get the six people to register, otherwise we may be financially liable. Patty asked if everyone completed their calls to reach out to current and potential members. Board members had initiated these calls, but Patty asked that everyone review their list and make additional calls.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cleve reported on the sessions and the CPB, NPR, and DEI representatives attending. There will be a special session on podcasting with NPR, PRX, and PI. Robert Altman from the CPB Major Don Initiative will be attending.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0III. PRIMA Board Nominations<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Craig will put out the list. Bill McGinley indicated that he is happy to continue on the Board, depending on how the new Iowa state network operates.<\/span><\/p>\n

IV. Hurricane Katrina<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Patty mentioned that public television is active on the issue of Hurricane Katrina. Public Radio seems to be less active. It was noted that APTS is spearheading the television effort, and that it’s receiving a lot of publicity at this time. It may be a good idea for PRIMA to look into what it as an organization can do for the stations affected by Hurricane Katrina.<\/span><\/p>\n

V. NPR Local Initiative<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Tim Emmons is on the NPR Local News Advisory Committee. He provided update on the activity to date. There may be representation from this group at the September meeting. This is a high priority topic for NPR.<\/span><\/p>\n
