Minutes<\/strong><\/p>\n

Present: Patty Wente,\u00a0 KWMU (President); Cleve Callison, WMUB (Vice-President); Christina Kuzmych, WFIU (Secretary); Tim Eby, (WOSU) (Past President), Al Bartholet, WKSU (Board Member No. 1); Jon Schwartz, Wyoming Public Radio, (Board Member No. 3); Dorie Vallillo, WIUM (Treasurer), Dan Skinner, Texas Public Radio, (Board Member No. 2); Rachel Augustine, Assistant to President; John Crigler, Guest<\/p>\n

I. Meeting began at 2:30 E.T.<\/strong><\/p>\n

II. The Chartock Resolution<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alan sent out e-mail to A-Reps proposing two resolutions to be presented at Membership meeting in Washington. 1) Perform a national search for President, 2) Resolve membership make-up of NPR Board.\u00a0 Tim Eby was on the call and clarified a few points.\u00a0 1) \u00a0Ken Stern was not a temporary hire. 2) A consultant was hired by NPR o assess the optimal make-up of the NPR Board and recommend directions. \u00a0Report should be finished in time for May meeting.\u00a0 The consultation is going through the through the Governance Committee \u2013 Rob Gordon is the point person.\u00a0 Is there a move to decrease station membership on Board?\u00a0 Tim Eby:\u00a0 All options are being considered.\u00a0 Any change in Board constituency would require a membership vote.
\nWill there be a quorum at the NPR Business meeting?\u00a0 Tim Eby:\u00a0 There is a small chance that there will be a quorum to pass resolutions.<\/p>\n

III.\u00a0 PRIMA meeting in D.C.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

PRIMA will meet at 1:30, even though many members may not be able to attend.<\/p>\n

IV. SRG Filing<\/strong><\/p>\n

Should PRIMA join other member organizations asking the FCC to cap at 10 the number of applications any one applicant can submit in NCE October window? The draft letter from John Crigler was read. \u00a0\u00a0John Crigler joined the conversation.\u00a0 If we bump the number up,\u00a0 we\u2019ll need to go back out to other signatories for consensus.\u00a0 The number we agree on may affect several stations. Wyoming Public Radio, for example, may file more than 10 applications.\u00a0 What is the timetable for filing this?\u00a0 John Crigler, there\u2019s no absolute deadline, however, it\u2019s best to move this process along.\u00a0 We know that the window is going to open in October.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

RESOLUTION:<\/strong>\u00a0Motion to cap at 15 the number of applications any one applicant can submit made by Cleve Callison.
\nSeconded by Jon Schwartz.
\nUnanimously passed.
\nTim Eby recused himself as Chair of the NPR Board.<\/p>\n

VI. Other<\/strong>
\nHotel bill from hotel in Austin still hasn\u2019t arrived.<\/p>\n

Report from Ohio Legislature hearings.\u00a0 One legislator was getting concerned about \u201ccommercialism\u201d on public radio.\u00a0 This was referring to underwriting messages.<\/p>\n

NPR Board:\u00a0 Tim Eby invited all to come to D.C. to help chart new directions.<\/p>\n
